Cranbourne Night out for the 3YO’s

Dec 29, 2017

We hope you all had a very happy and healthy Christmas. It was nice to have a few days to spend with family but unfortunately horses don’t know it’s Christmas Day so it was business as usual at the stables from our wonderful staff who ensured our equine athletes received the best of care right through out the festive period.

After a very tight finish from Riel Reward, our last runner at Mornington on Wednesday when narrowly beaten into second spot, we head to our local track at Cranbourne tonight with two runners in the hope of going one better.

First up in Race 2 the Peter & LaVella DaRosa 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate - is first starter MY CLEMENTINA. As with all first starters, it is difficult to predict how the horse will cope with the race day experience. We have senior jockey Dwayne Dunn in the saddle and we will hope tonight is a positive educational experience for the filly. The distance of 1400m should be ideal for her first big night out under the Cranbourne lights.

Our other runner is ROSSTART who runs in Race 5 - the 3YO Maiden Plate tonight. After a very respectable 4th finish at Mornington on last start, Jake Noonan is back in the saddle again tonight. We would hope that he will come on from that run and put in a good account of himself tonight. Over 1600m, it is a slight step up in trip and hopefully with some luck in running we can see ROSSTART in contention in the closing stages.

Once again, we would like to thank all our great staff who have sacrificed their Christmas to work and in doing so have kept the whole show on the road. We may not say it enough but we do really appreciate the great efforts they go to not just at Christmas but right throughout the year.
